  GlobalFit™ Training

Our Content Globalization training focuses on helping writers prepare content for faster, better, and more cost-effective localization.

The training is customized and delivered online or on-site. Stakeholders in the content globalization supply chain, including writers, engineers, and marketing personnel, learn how to achieve maximum leveragability with localization processes and tools. Emphasis is placed on learning how to:

  • Reduce text volume correctly
  • Streamline content for translation efficiency
  • Ensure high-quality user experiences
  • Maximize text reuse through single-sourcing techniques
  • Maximize repurposing through translation memory tools

Writing Considerations

For the tactical part of the training, we focus on techniques that writers can employ to understand how and why to write with localization in mind. Our approach is to combine best practices with client-specific examples. We conduct a GlobalFit™ Assessment on sample documents and style guide prior to the training to provide real-life, before-and-after examples.

For effective writing, we provide insights into common information development strategies such as:

  • Keeping it simple (active voice, present tense, second person)
  • Knowing how and when to use illustrations
  • Providing an expanded glossary
  • Developing a terminology practice
  • Avoiding ambiguity, slang, industry jargon, humor, and so on
  • Using words as both nouns and verbs
  • Defining acronyms and terminology
  • Providing metric measurements
  • Internationalizing dates, time, numbers, and monetary systems
  • Understanding expansion of text issues (boxes, callouts, and special formatting)
  • Preparing graphics, screens, icons, and illustrations for ease of translation

Business Considerations

For the strategy part of the training, we focus on the components that impact the global content supply chain, such as:

  • The strategic and tactical implications of how content creation impacts translation and an organization's ability to reach its global objectives.
  • Best practices, from content creation through translation to publishing and management.
  • Tool discussion and and how tools impact the upstream content creation, publishing, and management process for faster throughput of downstream translations

The goal is superior localization efficiency, enhanced usability and demonstrated, enterprise-wide savings.
