PRESS RELEASE - For Immediate Release
ABLE Innovations Supports Local Domestic Violence Victims by Donating Translation Services
- Translated Brochures Will Promote Outreach to Spanish and Portuguese Communities -

July 9, 2008 - Boston, MA. ABLE Innovations, LLC. (www.ableinnovations.com), a premier provider of language services located in the Boston area, underscored its support of local domestic violence victims by translating a brochure for HAWC (Help for Abused Women and their Children). HAWC is a Salem, MA-based, non-profit group that promotes social change surrounding the epidemic of violence against women and their children.

“Abuse does not discriminate— it spans all racial, socio-economic and language boundaries,” says HAWC's Director of Development, Nancy Kieran. “In addition to our Spanish-speaking clients, we also find that a growing number of Portuguese-speaking women are seeking our assistance. Particularly in such an ethically diverse region of the country, it’s crucial that we make our services accessible to women of all cultures.”

With an army of over 200 volunteers, HAWC provides a variety of services to women and children in 23 cities and towns on Massachusetts’ North Shore, including sheltering, hotline support, court advocacy, counseling, and rental and relocation assistance. New Spanish and Portuguese versions of HAWC’s tri-fold brochure, translated by ABLE, will be made available in area hospitals, doctors’ offices and other common locations throughout the region. The translated brochures will provide non English-speaking abuse victims and their loved ones with information about HAWC’s services and how to get help.

“The ability to communicate effectively with women of all ethnicities will allow us to expand our reach into the community,” Kieran adds. “By donating their skills and time in translating our brochure, ABLE has truly helped our organization to further its mission of hope. We are so appreciative.”

ABLE Innovations is certified by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council, a premier advocate of women’s business enterprises as suppliers to corporate America. As a WBENC-endorsed organization, ABLE is actively committed to charities that benefit women and women’s causes.

“HAWC provides a priceless service to the community,” says Kaarina Kvaavik, ABLE co-owner and Chief Business Officer. “By offering education, support and alternatives to those living in a violent or oppressive situation, they are making a profound difference in the lives of thousands of women and children throughout the region. We are honored to continue to be able to help out.”
