Background:
Over the past three years, ABLE Innovations has assisted
Intellisync in localizing its Intellisync family of products
into 16 languages including Brazilian Portuguese, Continental
Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Japanese,
Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Polish, Danish,
Finnish, Swedish, Dutch, Greek and Czech.
In support of Intellisync's direct customers, ABLE has
delivered localization of Intellisync's Software Development
Kits (SDKs) for Critical Path Software, MSN, Alcatel
and Kyocera, among others.
Client Objective:
When ABLE started doing work for Intellisync in 1999, they
were one of five vendors. Many projects later, ABLE
became their "go-to" supplier for integrated globalization
services. Julie Lieber, Localization Manager at Intellisync,
credits her decision to stay with ABLE because, "ABLE
does great work and their pricing and turnaround are
realistic". But flexibility and responsiveness by ABLE's
veteran staff members were not the only redeeming qualities
that kept Intellisync coming back. Guaranteed cost savings,

Challenge:
Despite this strong history and track record between
the companies, Intellisync recently choose to try another
strategy to meet its worldwide translation and internationalization
needs. With the current economic climate affecting IT,
and Intellisync experiencing slashed budgets, Intellisync
felt compelled to try an in-country single language
vendor (SLV) to try and save money. But the approach
to secure a lower price per word ultimately proved not
to be cost effective.
Lieber said, "Our in-country vendor called at the last
minute and said they didn't have the necessary resources
to perform the project we had requested, thus adversely
affecting our localization efforts."
Solution:
To minimize its risk, Intellisync again called on ABLE
Innovations. ABLE's production team expedited the release
of this crucial Spanish product and met the international
product requirements of this extremely time-sensitive
project.
