ABLE Innovations Enables Localization of WeightWatchers.com Communities in Nine Countries
WeightWatchers.com Selects Prospero Technologies as Community Platform and ABLE Innovations for localization services to create International Web Sites

Background:
Weightwatchers.com, the leading global weight loss brand, has helped millions of people around the world with their efforts to lose weight. With so many of their customers in non-English speaking locales, and a distributed web presence covering 29 countries, Weightwatchers.com undertook the effort to extend the online customer experience into nine of those countries with localized Web sites. WeightWatchers.com selected Prospero Technologies for the community platform and ABLE Innovations for localization services to create the international Web sites.

Client Objective:
To enhance communication with non-English speaking people interested in weight loss and weight management, Weightwatchers.com embarked on a multi-phased approach to creating a multilingual online community experience. The goal: They wanted visitors to these sites to experience a Weight Watchers branded online community in their native languages, including customized registered user sign-up processes, message boards, polls and profiles. The countries that they wanted to target were the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Belgium, France, Germany, Switzerland, Sweden and Finland.

Challenge:
Weightwatchers.com sought a solution that could provide a cost effective and efficient way to deal with the complexity of online community management in multiple languages within the framework of their distributed Web site model. They knew that the multilingual aspect would increase the difficulty of developing and maintaining these interactive sites, yet were determined to find a solution that would ensure an effective method of maintaining registrations, message boards and other features that the sites would offer.

Solution:
WeightWatchers.com selected Prospero Technologies LLC, a leading provider of Web-based collaboration services and ABLE Innovations, a leading provider of language technology and integrated globalization services, to create the multilingual Web sites in U.K. English, Flemish, French, German, Swedish and Finnish.

Further, time and money were saved by streamlining administration of its international Web sites, reducing maintenance complexity, centrally managing international registered user sign-up/login processes, and creating, launching and managing feature-rich message boards.
