Able Innovations: Fueling Healthcare Solutions with ISED Support

Updated: May 24

At Able Innovations, we are on a mission to change the patient transfer game with robotics. A part of our journey has been fueled by the astounding support and collaboration with Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED), a partnership that has been instrumental in our growth and development.

Our story with ISED began in 2019, when we received vital funding from the National Research Council (NRC) - Industrial Research Assistance Program (IRAP). This early support played a pivotal role in kick starting our research and development efforts, paving the way for the creation of our flagship product, the ALTA Platform®.

In our ongoing efforts to refine and push the boundaries of innovation, we established a strategic collaboration with the CAN Health Network - leading the charge in tackling market access barriers for innovators, fast-tracking the procurement of solutions for healthcare organizations, and serving as an integrated marketplace for actively advancing technology and healthcare. This collaboration has been a game-changer, providing invaluable insights and connections, thus accelerating our product development and commercialization.

Our commitment to continuous improvement and scalability led us to participate in ISED's Innovative Solutions Canada program. Through this initiative, we are currently developing advanced features for the ALTA platform, such as SmartMoov, which further enhances the device's effortless operation.

Recently, we had the distinct pleasure of hosting Assistant Deputy Minister - Andrea Johnston (ISED), and the Director of Policy, Plans and Priorities - Kathleen Cavallaro (ISED) at our facility. This visit reinforced the strong partnership we have built with ISED and their steadfast support for Canadian innovation.

Looking ahead, we are excited to continue leveraging ISED’s expertise, and resources to further advance our product. Together, we are paving the way for a future driven by innovation, where patient care is elevated to new heights, and the healthcare industry is transformed for the better.
