The ALTA Platform™

SAFE & SMART

Equipped with an array of sensors, the smart device ensures safety above all else, while being easy to use. The ALTA Platform communicates with the user via a graphical interface while monitoring proper status of safety systems such as wheel locks and patient guards.

Why We Developed ALTA

The Problem With Transfers

UNSAFE

unsafe photo.png

Exerting back-breaking effort: 60% of nurses are battling strain-related injuries. Undignified and poor patient experience.

INEFFICIENT

Ineficient photo.png

2-8 nurses required per transfer.

Facilities have no insight as to how efficiently and safely transfers are conducted making it impossible to make improvements or take corrective action.

COSTLY

costly photo.png

$20B per year in injury and labor costs associated with transfers.

$4B per year in lost revenue in CT suites due to slower processing caused by patient transfers.

Why ALTA?

HEALTHCARE FACILITIES
Staff shortages and high turnover are negatively impacting clinical efficiency and healthcare outcomes. The ALTA Platform improves staff retention while allowing staff to do-more-with-less and focus on high-value tasks. With the data analytics module, facilities gain valuable information on optimizing workflows to boost clinical efficiency and utilization.

Front-line Staff.png

FRONT-LINE STAFF
Transfers expose staff to musculoskeletal strain leading to career-ending injuries. By automating the transfer process, the ALTA Platform eliminates this source of injury. The ALTA Platform also reduces the burden of staff by allowing them to conduct transfers independently, without relying on additional staff.

PATIENTS
Conventional methods of transfers are invasive, uncomfortable and unappealing. The ALTA Platform’s unique architecture delivers a comfortable, safe and dignified experience for patients. Further, patient outcomes are improved as front-line staff are able to focus on providing compassionate care to patients, instead of conducting the physical task of transfers.

  • Why would I use ALTA over existing methods?
Existing methods require multiple caregivers to exert back-breaking effort. Current methods are unsafe, and it is difficult to enforce a "standard of care". Current transfer methods also require multiple staff to be present, which is increasingly difficult as facilities are increasingly short-staffed. The ALTA allows a single operator to transfer patients independently, in a safe, effortless and automated fashion. This eliminates the burden associated with recruiting additional staff. Moreover, the ALTA is easy to use and its intelligent systems add additional layers of safety and redundancies that promise to reduce injuries, prolong careers and also offer greater clinical efficiency.
  • How does the ALTA increase clinical efficiency?
In majority of transfers today, there is a downtime associated with recruiting a team that can adequately and safely conduct transfers. Lack of available resources often result in long wait times to recruit staff, and often staff over exert themselves by doing transfers without adequate resources. As patient acuities rise amidst increasing shortstaffing, these issues are sure to get worse. The ALTA eliminates the need for additional staff - allowing one operator to independently conduct the same transfers. This significantly reduces the wait-time and promises to increase clinical throughput and profitability. One example of where such features could be highly desirable is placing the ALTA in/by an inpatient CT Scan suite.
  • Is it complicated to use?
No. Designed with caregiver input to be easy to use. Requires minimal training. Intuitive.
  • What are the patient set-up steps involved before transferring a patient with ALTA?
Simply place the device beside the bed/stretcher/table where the patient is and press a button to initiate transfer automatically. System adjusts for bed height, mattress compression, checks that it is safe to start and transfers the patient.
  • How long does it take to transfer a patient with ALTA?
It takes 1 caregiver just 2 minute so a total of 2 minutes. There are no set-up steps or changes in the existing workflow of caregivers.
  • Can ALTA transfer bariatric patients?
Most patients that require help with mobility can be transferred. ALTA can transfer patients weighing up to 350 lbs.
  • Does the patient need to be able to bear weight or help themselves in some way to be transferred?
No, even patients that are completely immobile can be transferred with ALTA in an effortless and safe manner.
  • Are there risks of injury for the patient or caregiver when using ALTA?
No, the solution takes all of the back breaking effort out of the transfer process.
  • How many transfers can ALTA conduct on a full battery charge?
    Over 50!
  • Where do I store the ALTA?
ALTA can be kept in the foot print of a regular stretcher in a nearby space that is convenient for retrieval as needed for patient transfers. Product development has begun on a version of ALTA that has the ability to fold itself into half of its footprint to be stowed in a smaller area.
